Title: technical problems with black officals pants

Has anyone else had problems with the white stripe on the lightweight black pants fading to a dingy grey?   I followed the instructions and washed them in cold water.  But a number of local officials here have the same problem.  we all have the Honigs lightweight pants.

Yep   Huge problem last  year.  I had heard Honigs figured it out so I bought a new pair this year.  Same thing!

My honigs, Chinese crap, did that after first wash last year. Smitty all the way this year. Mucho better.

A friend of mine who teaches science says to soak them in vinegar before washing for the first time. Apparently this helps the dye set. I didn't and it seems that mine are turning grey too. I love Honigs and their stuff but this is something they need to figure out.

The problem with my first Honig's pair seemed more like a "run" in the stripe material.  I originally thought it was a discoloration but after re-washing with a pretreatment the ,stain" was still there.  Closer examination looked to me to be some sort of flaw in the fabric.

I've gotta pair of Smitty's and a pair of Gerry Davis and I still like the Davis pants the best.  Unfortunately, the "evil empire" is the Preferred provider of the NCHSAA so we best be seen on film with that little H on the back belt loop.

Officials in our association bought mostly Smitty brand last year & I haven't heard of any complaints.

I have smitty pants and they are good with the white stripe.

I had this issue last year and Honig's told me basically to go pound sand. I bought a pair of Smitty pants this year and they are great.
