Just found out our game Friday night is scheduled to be on ESPN. That will be a first for all of us on the crew. Any suggestions other than getting a new shirt?
-
Treat it just like any other game. There are always cameras in the sky.
-
Good luck.

My crew did a game on FoxSports Ohio a few weeks ago. Find out when the kickoff will be from your sideline guy. We had the teams ready at 7:30 and we waited and waited as Fox did some pregame program until 7:37, it seemed longer. Had we known it would have been so long we would have had the coaches keep the teams until the network was ready. Also the TV timeouts were a little over 2 minutes so we did have the coaches keep the players until we got the 15 second warning. Have fun.

Old axiom- The camera adds 10 pounds.
Myth- Stripes are slimming.
Practice your rap on the mic this week.
May your crew not call a foul you don't remember the signal for. pray:;

Don't blow through any TV timeouts! Talk with the red hat before the game & make sure you're both on the same page regarding his signals.
Encourage your crew to stand at "parade rest" during these TO's. Nothing looks worse than seeing officials with hands-on-hips, or arms crossed "I'm bored" posture.
When making penalty announcements, get completely stopped, look up to the press box, s-l-o-w down, and wait a second after the announcement before going to your position.
Have fun!

Remember to come here on Saturday to see some game highlights >:D

D..... V..... R..... Oh just like some said, treat it like any other game. There are always cameras, this one just happens to be broadcasting.
-
Make sure the U has the R facing the right way. pray:;

This has happened just once this season, at a field where the press box was on the "wrong" side.
These are great suggestions. Keep 'em coming!

Test your mic in the pregame.Keep control of your mic. I worked one of these games and production was having problems with the mic and it worked when it wanted to.

What game is it? What is your position? Good luck!

If you start talking and the mic doesn't seem to be working, don't stop. TV may be picking you up even though it's not being heard in the stadium.
Don't wander all over to get in an opening- 2 or 3 steps works and the camera will find you.
Use your "inside" voice. Don't yell into the mic.
Pick a spot in the stands and focus on it, don't look all over.
Keep it simple.
Don't talk too fast. Slow down.
Smile and have fun- you'll do fine!

But don't mumble either. There are some referees that are impossible to actually hear.
-
Most important of all.
Turn the darn thing off when you finish your announcement...................................... ;D
-
Appreciate all the comments. Turns out ESPN will not broadcast the game, though the local public school station will. ESPN will be at the stadium ... for a college soccre game Saturday!
