In Louisianna, administrators from 1 school have the coach from the other school ARRESTED in pregame because his team was on the field preventing the other school's band from performing.
And they say WE are crazy in Texas!!

I always knew Louisiana was a special kind of crazy.

Don't get in the way of those band kids (or their parents).

My WH is a retired school system administrator. He says the two parental constituencies you do not want to tick off are band and cheerleaders.

Heck no!! We know what the cheerleadermoms are capable of

Sadly, I'm afraid "special kind of crazy" is not limited to Louisiana. It seems the problem of some adults, who are supposed to be examples of maturity and common sense, just don't seem able to get over their exaggerated sense of self importance.

What a giant wast of time. These "adults" should be embarassed. How does this nonsense get out of control. The cops should never have cuffed the coach and should have urged the lady principal to keep her cool.
-
A real resume-builder for the coach AND seemingly the AD too...

Oughta knowd better than to interrupt a band concert for something as trivial as a football game.

Especially when it occurred on a FOOTBALL field. pi1eOn

That part is perplexing. It sounded like the police involved were "real" police and and not the school district's "palace guard". Unless they were there working in an off-duty "security guard" status I don't understand why they thought they even had the authority to do what they did. They may have opened thier own department (and that city) to some real liability here.
-
The only reason I can come up with for the cuffing is if the visiting coach went totally ballistic towards the principal, & the police thought he was a danger to her or to them.
Not that I'd completely blame him.

I have dealt with a few coaches over the years whom I hoped would be removed from my sideline by a higher authority. Handcuffing may be the remedy for chronic sideline infraction offenders.

We had a simular situation a few years ago. Cheerleading Coach had cussed out an Official for asking her to move from the sideline. I was then asked to take her sideline in the next game at that site. Before kickoff, I went over and kindly asked her to keep back a few steps during the game. "In our last game the official on the home team sideline ran over one of the cheerleaders, she is in the hospital right now fighting for her life." "Really?" "Naw, just kidding, I don't want anyone hurt so please step back, so that I don't become the truck and one of your girls doesn't become the armadillo."
Maybe I'm better looking than the last Official that officated there. She promptly moved her cheerleaders back and out of the way. I then went up to the other side and asked them to do the same. Clean sideline all day.
