There is a lot of rules regarding contact against an opponents helmet including the face mask. but using your own helmet is only covered in 9.1.3 - Targeting and Initiating Contact With the Crown of the Helmet".
I can't find anywhere that blocking or tackling leading with your helmet first (except with the crown) is illegal, except when contact with other parts of your body is illegal as well.
It seems a little bit strange that "The Football Code" states that "The helmet is for the protection of a player", but it is not stated to be illegal to use it in general.
Block below the waist was made illegal with some exceptions, but using the helmet is legal with one exception. Seems like we are protecting the knees more that the head.
There are rules against striking an opponent with hands, arms, etc 9.1.2, but where is the rules make such act illegal using the helmet. I have searched through the rules a few times but I can't find anything.
So what have I missed?
