Forwardprogress?

Hi!

I was back judge in a crew in a  indoorgame in sweden this saturday and we had a call on forward progress that i want to know what you think about it. The white line in the middle of the field is the line to reach for a new set of downs.

Firrrssstttt   Dooowwwnnnn!!!!!  Move the cone ( or whatever the heck you move in that game).  Bet those helmets and chin strap buckles  do wonders for the floor when they hit them.

Definitely 1st down. Looks to me that the HL (or LJ) has a good view but decides wrongly to go with where the ball is left after the tackle. Is he a newish official?

He feelt that the runner moves backwards at his own will and therefor should get the spot where he goes out of bounds. Becouse it is a new leap when he starts running after the initial contact.

Even with the "hop" backwards the ball still breaks the plane for a 1st down when the receiver/runner turns before being driven back OOB.
