Potential new Thread Feature?
« on: December 28, 2013, 04:05:20 PM »
 :thumbup ?
Just wondering--Is there a way to implement a thumbs up/thumbs down, +-, "like"/"suck" (probably not the latter) feature on posts?  This would allow one to "weigh-in" on a particular subject without actually posting.  I'd like to give a +- on some comments that are made every once in a while.

Not sure if the board code permits that.  You can do a poll (see thread I just started) but that would be on the overall thread and not on a specific poster's comment (I.,e, like a "like" in Facebook)

That feature was available when Grant first started the board but deactivated it at some point for reasons I don't recall. I'm OK with reinstating it unless things start to get out of hand (which has been know to happen on other SM forums which will remain nameless). Let's let Mike's poll run for a few days and see if others agree.

I like the idea of a "like" or some such, button.  If you have a dissenting point of view then make your point, there's no reason to regurgitate the same rhetoric if you are in agreement.  I'd like to be able to support comments that I deem valid and constructive.

Make a "like" button, but not a "dislike" button.  Like umpire29 said, if you like it,  you can click LIKE.  If you don't like it, reply as to why and get some discussion going!

We are looking into that possibility but it may be an all-or-none issue.

Personally, if it were an all (both like and dislike buttons) or none, I would choose none.  Dislike buttons could get hostile too.

Also, I think the dislike button could get broken by people clicking it so much for my posts!   ;D

Why add a new feature? If you want to  :thumbup, then click on reply and hit the  :thumbup.

Pretty simple. Even an umpire could have figured it out  LOL!

They could add a thumb down button  pi1eOn

Now what post is this referring to?  Usually threads have more than one reply if I'm not mistaken.  Even an east Texas hick can see that. nAnA :sTiR: (cooking up meth emoji for ET)
