Offsetting fouls?
« on: July 30, 2014, 03:20:46 PM »
I don't think the answer to this differs between NFHS and NCAA...

Team A throws a pass and the pass is intercepted.  Team B then clips during the return.  The ball is fumbled and Team A recovers and advances.  Team A then holds.  The ball is fumbled again and Team B recovers.

Question:  Is this an automatic offset, or can B decline A's foul and have the clip enforced and retain possession?

NCAA is an automatic offset.

If "A" had not fumbled, they could have declined the B penalty and kept the ball with penalty. But since they fumbled and B recovered offset

NFHS: B didn't get the ball on the second COP with clean hands.  Offset them.
