If you're working Div 1 football, should you need reminding about goal line, etc; but, having no personal experience with the technology, I respect your opinion. tiphat:

But, IMHO, the headphone/mic thing makes the officials look like 1950's telephone operators[/color] ;D

Guess you have not been to a college camp. The crew communication is stressed, never hurts to reinforce what you know. Prevents brain cramps

Why is there so much concern about, "How we look"?  Does any of that really matter?  We changed our uniform pants, because it made a LOT of practical sense.  A considerable time ago, we changed the color of penalty flags from red to gold, again it was the practical reason that gold is more visible.

Now, at the HS level, we're widening the shirt stripes, why, because the combination of dark pants and narrow stripes make some of us harder to see.  Since the dark pants are here to stay, widening the white stripes negates some of that problem, and makes practical sense.

Instead of how we look (because NOBODY but a few of us, really cares) the focus should be on whether a change makes sense, is practical, helps us do a better job or makes our job easier.  As long as we understand we "look marvelous" who cares what anyone else thinks.

Nice...thanks for the shot :'(

There are many ways to "communicate"; and I do not question it's need - just the "Olivia the Operator" look.

Methinks it does matter...just ask college supervisors.

We're talking technology here (and at the NCAA level for now) - not uniforms or penalty flags (although my guess is that their changes were more supplier-related motivated.  As I said this is MY opinion!

As long as we understand we "look marvelous" who cares what anyone else thinks.

I think it matters to a lot of folks - players, coaches, ADs, assigners, and fans.  Some of the "best looking" officials can't officiate a 9-year old's  game.

As I have stated before....

Every official can wear a gopro and stream the film to an ipad on the sideline.  When a coach wants to challenge a play we can rewind the feed and see it from every officials angle.  It would be quicker then the NFL.  We could also stream the feed to a website for out of town viewing $$$.

When I get a TV game I will have TXMIKE watch the game and text me when I screw things up.  Hopefully before the next game.

I am going to start some google hangouts this season where I post the plays for you to pull up on another device then we can discuss live via hangouts or zebrachat.

Why worry about "replay"? See what you call and call what you see, quit trying to be like the NFL or College, just work the game the best you can
