Something positive for a change
« on: September 12, 2016, 07:08:14 PM »
With all the referees being attacked, I figured we could use a more positive report from around here. A local AD posted this on that school's Facebook page and it found its way through the grapevine to my neck of the woods:

I received an electronic email from the MHSAA indicating a report had been filed. How pleased I was when it was a report of "praise" by an official who worked the varsity football game last Friday at (Opponent).
The report states,

"Players #23, #12, #26, #15 for (School) showed many examples of great sportsmanship, in a close and intense ballgame. They should be recognized for their leadership amongst teammates and good sporting acts with opponents."

That made me smile reading it, and if only there were more kids like that in the game. Good on that official for filing a report like that.

Social Media can be a positive. Here is a School Facebook Post of another report last year by the school District Superintendent.

Lancer Sportsmanship noted by Officials
After each athletic contest referees and officials are able, but not required, to send to the Ohio Athletic Association comments about the teams/coaches/etc. Here is the comment sent about this past Friday's football game between the Lancers and the Spartans:

"Great job by both team coaches. They displayed great sportsmanship and kept control of the their respective sidelines and coaches box. A pleasure to work a game that allowed the officials to concentrate on the players rather than the non players. Again, Great Job!"

My congratulations to both coaching staffs on this positive model for our young people. Well done.

Officials, when a team or teams come along and do things the "right" way then file the report.
