Anyone else have Private Schools cancel football season?
« on: October 14, 2020, 08:02:53 AM »
I was supposed to work a game at a Private school here in Houston, but they ended up canceling their entire football season due to the ongoing pandemic.

There is a small blessing in that it gives me a week off before my out of town game a week from Friday in Columbus.

Anyone else had this happen in their chapter, of course this is assuming your chapter serves private schools.

This is not unusual. Games are being canceled weekly (public and private schools). Many schools quarantine folks for two weeks, and then get back to playing. That messes up district scheduling, but they are being creative to keep playing. Like paying a game every 5 or 6 days, instead of 7. Yeah, makes for some Mon-Wed varsity games. We're gettin' 'officials scheduled for 'em. Not easy, but we're gettin' it done. Just like good players, there is no quit in us.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that.
I know some of us started earlier.

My first game was on Sept. 26th and I have been working a game a week through December (Not including playoffs obviously).

Do you work in the SEC? If yes, just curious about the goings on there.

Get to Columbus early and enjoy the pregame meal.

Got it covered, got a hotel room for the night that's 5 minutes to/from the stadium.  ;D

Didn't want to potentially drive home after midnight (Should the game go into OT, after a 7.30pm start), due to obvious reasons plus I will more than likely be tired.
