They likely are compatible as the k1 connector us very popular over there. That being said I would urge no one to use baofeng radios, they are not part 95 compliant.  There was a crew in Washington state that was fined $10k each for using these radios.

Here is an article all about radio compliance, selection and it also has a handy table on how to make the different brands work together.

Here's the fine.... Strange that the brigade didn't know about the Part 95 violation. In any case, thanks for sharing. Now I know that baofeng radios are not all right. I have an acquaintance who does this, I'll let him know.

How exactly would they be able to track the user of one of these radios and fine them?  It's not like a cell phone that has your digital footprint on it.

Hence my questioning the validity of the claim about the 10k fines

It doesn't, but identifying the location of a radio source can be done using triangulation if you've got the right kit (which I'd assume the authorities have).

Offtopic, but yeah, can confirm having been on the receiving end of such a triangulation (interesting fact: industrial RFID readers in the US use the same frequencies as GSM network does in Europe)...

Matt,
We got to use the Speak Easy headsets/belt button today. MARVELOUS. We love ‘em. Worth every penny.
Good job! I will recommend them to everyone.

FYI, we use Midland GXT 1000P radios, and everything appears to work fine. However, I have heard a report from some folks using other models of Midland radios that there may be issues. That is a shame, because these headsets are such an improvement over the microphone with built-in PTT switch that I think we all have been using (with Midland radios).
In comparing the connectors, there IS a difference in the pins of the connectors between the Speak Easy headsets and the other headsets we have been using. The large pin on the Speak Easy set has three contact areas (separated by the little black insulator rings), whereas the large pins on the previous headsets have only two contact areas (separated by a single insulator ring).

For me, both sets of headsets work just fine. I hope those having issues are able to get the problem fixed (without having to buy new radios). The belt buttons are SWEEEEET.

I appreciate the quality of the wires. My suggestions after using them last week is to shorten the cords and make the button rounded so you can transmit just by touching it with the palm of your hand. As it is now you must use your fingertips. Other than that I liked them.

Yeah the chord from button to radio is a little long.  I just put my radio on back left hip and ran wire thru my belt loop.  Helped take up the slack and not have wire sticking out to get tangled up with.

Many years ago, I started having several 3/4" long "button holes" sewn into my pants, on the belt line, primarily for running wires for the field mic from the body pack to the interrupter switch, and running the microphone wire from the interrupter switch up inside my shirt, thorough another button hole sewn in my shirt under the collar, near the zipper, to allow the mic to come through and clip to the collar.

So just last week, I made some additional homemade button holes on the opposite side (didn't have time to get the pants to a seamstress), to accommodate the Speak Easy cords, allowing the cord from the radio (clipped tp my belt) to the button switch to run inside my pants (and back out of the pants, for the button switch to also clip to my belt). Then another button hole to allow the mic/earpiece wires to pass through the pants, and run under my shirt to the neck area, where they exit and clip to my undershirt (earpiece) and shirt collar (mic).

This way, the wires are concealed to the maximum extent possible. Yeah, it takes a few extra minutes to get everything on, and then disconnect and remove everything after the game, but it is worth it, to not have visible wires running all over me.

As Billy Crystal (playing Fernando Llamas) would say, " It is better to look good than to feel good!"

One thing I would like is for the Speak Easy microphone to have a clip that can be rotated to any angle, so I can get the microphone pointed more directly at my face, rather than over my shoulder, or down toward my zipper.

I found a Bluetooth option on Amazon, the transmitter plugs into the handset and no more wires. It does come with a button you can put on your belt loop, but I prefer the button in the earpiece.  Seems to delay with the remote button. I saw options for different brands to match the pins.
