Not really sure with the new 2012 rule wording that there's anything here but with all of the variations similar to those posted it wouldn't be a surprise if we see some additional AR's and case plays prior to the fall.

By the letter of the rule these are both fouls.  My guess is that most coordinators would not want you to throw on the second play.  Summer clinics should clear this up.

The first play is pretty clear cut, IMO. We flag a receiver who very slightly steps on the sideline before being the first to touch a legal forward pass, so we should flag this too.

In the second one I don't really see any advantage gained and would not flag it, unless specifically instructed by my supervisor.

I'm wondering if there are any other fouls that are live ball fouls at the snap/kick that Team A can not "fix" prior to snapping/kicking?

For example- an illegal shift can always be avoided by having the team later setting for a second before the snap.  A player not inside the 9s can always go in motion or shift and make himself legal.

Here we could have a player step behind the line 10 seconds before the kick and there's no way out of it- yet the flag doesn't come until the kick.  Seems strange.

Team A can call a timeout to get out of this. But I don't think it really is the intent of the rule.
