Punt play
« on: October 06, 2015, 09:58:21 AM »
Team A punts the ball.  The ball hits the ground and bounces high in the air, Team A player bats the ball forward on the B48 and the the kick is picked up by Team B and returns to the A40.  Is there a foul for batting or just illegal touching spot?

Team A batted a loose ball forward. Why would you not have a foul? B can back Team A up and replay 4th or add 10 yards on to the play if they still have possession at the end of the down.

Why are we adding 10 yards to end of run?  10 yards and rekick I get and decline penalty and take illegal touch.

Because it's a foul by Team A during a kick play and it's not KCI and not on a field goal attempt. 6-3-13

Sorry -- blanked for a moment and was thinking just 5 yarders could be tacked on.  Your right.  But --- it is still an illegal touch, even if it is an illegal bat, and depending on how the tack-on would leave the ball, Team B may decline an take the ball at the touching violation.
