Well said.  As a former offensive/defensive lineman (so long ago it's hard to remember) we were coached on offense how to use "flinching" enough to get the D to slow down their initial charge without drawing a flag on the flinch. If we drew the D offside, that was a bonus. On defense, I know how a twitchy O-lineman could cause a slight delay in your initial charge to make sure the ball was snapped so IMHO no way that's not a "no advantage gained " action.

No, of course the pre-snap rules are rooted in advantage/disadvantage.  What I'm saying is that we're not judging that when we see the foul like we do for holding or DPI.  If Team A has 5 players clearly lined up in the backfield (say split end is off when he should be on), but the defense has no problem covering them or identifying eligibles, we're still calling it.  If a player clearly flinches and the defense doesn't jump offside, we're calling it, even if there wasn't an advantage gained.
