Son, looks to me like you’re spending too much time on one subject.

Coach Lemons: Hey Ref, is it OK if I call your partner an Idiot?

Official: No Coach it isn't. That would be a technical.

Coach Lemons: Is it OK if I just think it?

Official: Sure

This really happened years ago in a game at Clemson.
Coach to official, "hey Carl you can take that ball and shove it up your BUTT", official to coach, "coach can I let the air out of it first". That was the end of the conversation. ^TD

I overheard this one:
Coach speaking to wing: "When I was a Cpt in the Army I saw a bunch of inept folks running in stripes."
Wing: "I was a MGySgt in the Marines.  I out rank you.  So don't try and pull rank on me."

I'm not military, so I had to ask after the game: doesn't an officer out rank an NCO?
Response: How many Cpt you think there are on a typical Army base (or 'camp' - whatever they are called for Army)?  On the other hand, how many E9's you think there are?  I salute Birds & Stars.

Ed Badger at Cincinnati - to Henry Nichols  - after being rung up in a game one night:

Badger: "Hank, what's the T for?"
Nichols: "For giving me the choke sign."
Badger: "I was fixing my tie."
Nichols: "You're wearing a turtleneck."
