Curious about the play before TAMU'as first touchdonw in the Bama/TAMU game last weekend. I hope someone on this site can provide video as I do not have access, but i can describe the play. Happened at around the 11:22 mark in the 1Q as TAMU was driving to their first TD.
Official stood over the ball as Alabama substituted (TAMU ball on the Bama 5 yard line). TAMU was at the line, with their linemen all standing, with the exception of the center, who was over the ball. Manziel and 2 backs in the backfield. As the official moved off the ball, Bama players took a few secs to line themselves up and the TAMU line continued to stand and point around -- they never went into a stance. Center snapped the ball as that was going on, with no one moving. Manziel just held the ball against his leg for a second, then took a step to his right and handed the ball to the running back, who went left. About the same time, the line finally moved and the play went for about 2 or 3 yards.
My question is how was that a legal play and not some sort of movement call on the part of A&M since no one was set for any time prior to the play (again, except for the center)? No one said much about the play but it just seemed really odd to me since the linemen never went into a stance and were continuing to move the whole time. Anyone know the play I am referring to? Appreciate the help from the experts.
