S positioning on FG/PAT

What is the rationale for having S on the def strong side of the formation?

Umpire is used to seeing action on the G-C-G and the weak side team B guys are positioned to get a rebound from a blocked kick off the rush from the strong side so they are not pushing hard.  The S is there to make sure there is no "pull and shoot" by team B's strong side.
