I need your wise counsel

Can a center on the end of the line of scrimmage wearing a RB number be an eligible receiver?  Is the formation below legal?  It's first and 10 and here is the formation.

       Y                             TTCGG RB
                               H                                             X             Z
                                                 QB

Again, the RB on the end of the line will snap it to the QB in the shotgun.

Just remember that the player who snaps the ball is just that - the snapper. He can wear any number he likes and be either at the end of the line or an interior lineman. His eligibility is defined just like every other player's, by number and by position.

NFHS- as long as TTCGG are numbered 50-79 and he is wearing a number NOT that, yes.  Center is a position, snapper is defined by rule.

On PAT, FG and Punts, numbering exceptions may apply, but does not impact eligibility of the snapper in your formation above.

HS: he's on the end of the line & if he has an eligible number we're good to go.

Even if all of those guys are wearing eligible numbers the snapper can be eligible.  The interior 5 guys are considered the exceptions.  This only applies to tries and scrimmage kicks on 4th down. On 1st, 2nd, and 3rd down the snapper is the only allowed exception and he can't be an end.

Are you saying on 1st, 2nd and 3rd downs the snapper, if lined up on the end of the line AND wearing 1-49 or 80-99, is not an eligible receiver?

Assuming this is a regular play:

Yes, the guy snapping the ball is ELIGIBLE as long as he has an eligible number.

Just make sure that the TTCGG to his left all have numbers 50-79.  You need to have 5 guys numbered 50-79 on the line of scrimmage (positioned anywhere on the line) for the formation to be legal.

Per NFHS rules it's an illegal formation violating numbering rules.

Not if A has 5 others numbered 50-79.

Magician, if they have 5 other players numbered 50-79, they aren't using the numbering exception.

Correct.  This whole thread is implying they are using the numbering exception.

Umm, no. The thread is about extremely unbalanced lines and you don't need the numbering exception for that to be legal (in NCAA and NF, at least).
