Fight Ends Mississippi Junior College Game
« on: October 23, 2015, 10:13:21 AM »
More foolishness on the football field. Of course, the officials were to blame. This is the link with video of the fight, ending the game with 59 seconds left in the 2nd quarter. http://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2015/10/22/9601580/emcc-mississippi-delta-football-fight-ejections This is the same junior college that had their head coach suspended for the clip board incident with his stat guy.

The harsh reality is, Pandora's Box has been opened.  It's become fashionable, if not expected, to "act out" to whatever extent chosen at the slightest provocation or slight.  People feel, entitled to challenge the lawful orders of police, to the extent of assault and riot AND REGULARLY GET AWAY WITH THEIR BAD BEHAVIOR.

Is it really any wonder this nonsense has extended to the playing fields (where a ready made audience has been assembled to witness the bad behavior).

I lived in North Mississippi for 10 years in a town that had one of the top juco schools in the nation when they were coached by Bobby Franklin (two time bowl MVP at Ole Miss, Cleveland Browns DB and defensive back coach for Cowboys during part of the Landry heyday; plus his juco teams won two national championships).   Anyway, I went to a couple of games and the players were the most vial and undisciplined I have ever seen.   I could not watch the game for the profanity and crap going on on the sideline.   I think the Mississippi juco's get a lot of very very talented and gifted athletes but getting them to act and preform at a major college level is not easy.    BTW:  This was in the mid 1990's.

There's a reason these guys go to JC.

Evidence, "You reap what you sow" no matter how experienced a farmer you may have been.  Thankfully (hopefully) trash-talking is still strongly discouraged at the HS level.

One might think, considering the added maturity of Collegiate and Professional players, this practice would lessen at upper levels, unfortunately that's not the reality as it seems rather ignored and/or encouraged.  Encouraging and ignoring bad behavior, on any level, has NEVER served to lessen it, so the result should not be surprising.

Sadly, both Collegiate and Professional football appear to have decided to deal with the other, escalated levels of bad behavior they seem to be confronted with on an ever increasing basis.  Go figure.
