Every year at my preseason meetings with coaches, I have a "Don't try this at home" segment. Situations in other codes that don't apply to NFHS (no tackle box, no uncatchable pass,etc.). I may have seen another last night.
Situation : 0:05 left in first half - Pat's ball, 4th down, own 25.
Play : In lieu of punting under adverse conditions, Brady fades back in pocket and uncorks a long, high pass that falls harmlessly OOB as half ended. There didn't appear to be any eligible receivers in the same time zone

. Our 7-5-2d would have kicked in

and LOD would have turned the ball over to the Broncos.
Of course 3-3-4b(3) wouldn't allow an untimed down but, where many coaches are members of Patriot Nation, and many would be watching what I was, the question would arise.
A question (not a gripe) but ,when the clock was stopped by Denver to replace an injured player, didn't the clock continue to run, AND when the referee explained the excessive time out rule, didn't he say :" Please reset the game clock to 40 seconds."

I don't believe that ever happened
