How NOT to call a penalty
« on: December 08, 2015, 11:13:17 AM »
While this isn't football, I think it's a good example of how *not* to tell a player that he's committed a foul:

Warning -- NSFW / Salty Language. The commentators have been muted so that you can hear the "action" better, but his words were picked up loud and clear on the regular broadcast as well.

Fortunately, embellishment/diving isn't a big issue in american football (that european kind is a different story)

Boy and I thought NCHC referees were incompetent. How is that embellishment? And to add that kind of contempt on top of it. Shoot me if I ever get to that point on the football field.

He *was* touched with a 'high stick', but it was not a penalty since it was part of a normal shot/follow through.

At 30 seconds in this video, they show the play in slow motion and you can see what happened a little better.

Needless to say, there was a lot of overreaction on the play by more than one person.

It's pro hockey. There are a lot of things that happen there that we shouldn't do.

Boy and I thought NCHC referees were incompetent.

How so?

If you're right, I'll stick up for you. If you're wrong, I won't. If you're wrong over and over and over again, I have a problem.
