Of course.  Sorry, I was thinking a bit more generically, i.e., the clock would have been running.

I was trying to work it out in my head, I want to have an endgame here.  First is offside, advise the coach second is UNS, third time I would like to invoke 9.2.3 and to the locker room if the team wants to make a travesty of the contest.  Thoughts on that?

  • The rules are there if you need them.

Unless there was more than 2:40 remaining, I would penalize B 15 yards, and give A a first down, DQ the guilty player(s), set the play clock to 40, and start both clocks on the RFP signal.  Team A would only have to take a knee three times.  Team B would would probably not want a bunch of their players DQd, so I think this would let the game end with its full duration.

If more than 2:40 to play, and if I didn't think Team B was going to stop this action, I'd forfeit the game.

With one exception (at least under NFHS code), there's no foul for trying and failing to do something.  There are fouls for actually doing something.

Except for fighting/throwing a punch.  Even if you miss, under Fed code, you've still fouled and get to enjoy the rest of the night - and probably more - off.
