That actually depends on your definition of a day.  As an astronomer we actually refer to both the solar and the sidereal day.  The sidereal day is how long it takes Earth to rotate 360 degrees on its axis, the solar day is how long it takes for the Sun to return to the same point in the sky; since we orbit the Sun, the two quantities are not the same.  A sidereal day is always 23 hours 56 minutes, the length of a solar day varies based on where we are in our orbit around the Sun.  This year the longest solar day was actually January 3rd and the shortest was July 4th.  Our 24 hour clocks come from the average of the solar day over a whole year.  Yes, I know I'm a nerd.

Would you rather a thousand pound box of bricks fall on you or a box with a thousand pounds of feathers?   ;D

The feathers. With the nails, it's just a pound of nails. With the feathers you also have to carry around the weight of what you did to those birds.  ;D

Sorry, guys, none were very close. If you are a state that shifts to daylight savings time, the clock "falling back" that Sunday in November gives you a 25 hour day while springing ahead on that Sunday in March gives you a 23 hour day.........

So I was right, since I live in Arizona, a state that does not have the stupidity of Daylight Savings Time.  :P

The only thing stupid about DST is switching back to standard time.  We should have DST all year round.  Who needs the sun going to work?  We need daylight for golf after work, etc., etc., etc.

Usually the concerned moms who have kids at school bus stops. Not an irrational concern.
