1. 4/8 @ A-42. A96’s punt lands at the B-10, bounces off A44’s leg at the B-8 and finally goes out of bounds at the B-18. While the kick was in the air B80 signaled for a fair catch at the B-10 and then moved up-field and blocked A50 at the B-16 before the kick was dead.
B, 1/10, B-8, snap (25).
Illegal touching A44 at B-8. Team A will accept penalty for illegal block by B80. PSK enforcement is half-distance from spot of foul (B-16).
2. Free Kick @ A-35. The ball is muffed by B44 at the B-10 and rolls back into the end zone. B44, while pursuing the loose ball, bats the ball backwards from the end zone, where it goes out of bounds over the end line.
A, Kickoff, 45, snap (25).
Impetus is with A’s kick, so the pure and natural result of down is a touchback. Batting in the end zone by B44 is a foul, that can only be penalized at the previous spot (10 yard penalty), with down repeated.
3. 4/9 @ A-6. A12 drops back into his own end zone and intentionally grounds a forward pass to save loss of yardage.
(Assuming the grounding was illegal.)

Incomplete illegal forward pass belongs to passing team at spot of pass, so the pure and natural result of the down is a safety. However, in lieu of a safety, Team B may accept an artificial result of the down, i.e., next down at the previous spot. Since it was 4th down, team B will take possession of the ball, 1/G.
4. 3/10 @ A-30. B33, defending against a legal forward pass beyond the neutral zone, has his back to the ball and is waving his arms in the face of eligible A88 at the A-45, but does not make contact with the receiver. The catchable pass falls incomplete.
A, 4/10, A-30, snap (40 seconds and running).
There must be physical contact to have pass interference. No foul. Next down at previous spot.
5. 4/15 @ B-28. After receiving the snap place kick holder A14 flips the ball slightly backward from his knee at the B-35 to kicker A99. A99 attempts to run around the right side of the formation but is tackled at the B-25. B55 was lined up two yards off the line of scrimmage and at the snap he moved forward and leapt over A73 in an attempt to block the kick.
(Assuming A was in a scrimmage kick formation at the snap.)

Team A will accept the penalty for the illegal leaping foul by B55, ˝ distance from the end of A99’s run (B-25), with a first down. Since Team B will NOT next snap the ball, then game clock will next start on the referee’s signal, and the play clock will be set to 25 seconds and will also start on the referee’s signal.
6. 2/10 @ B-30. Ineligible lineman A70 runs more than three yards beyond the neutral zone and does not make contact with an opponent. He circles toward the flank and returns back to the neutral zone before A12 throws a legal forward pass that is complete to A88 at the B-10.
A, 2/15, B-35, ready (25).
Ineligible players may not be, OR HAVE BEEN, more than 3 yards beyond the NZ before a legal forward pass is thrown. The 5 yard penalty is enforced at the previous spot, with the down repeated. Since the ball was dead in the field of play, the game clock will next start on the referee’s signal, and the play clock will be set to 25 seconds and will also start on the referee’s signal.
7. 2/5 @ B-30. With the clock running, A12 is in shotgun formation. A12 muffs the snap which is then caught by running back A34. A34 immediately throws the ball forward into the ground after he possesses it. The clock reads 0:09 when the pass hits the ground.
A, 3/5, B-30, snap (40 and running).
A34 was the first player to possess the ball after the snap, and the ball had not touched the ground, thus, the ‘spike’ was legal. Due to the incomplete forward pass, the game clock will next start on the snap, and the play clock is set to 40 seconds and starts when the ball became dead after 2nd down.
8. 2/10 @ B-40. Quarterback A12 is in a shotgun formation. He muffs the backward pass from the snapper and the ball is picked up by A63 inside the tackle box. Under a heavy rush, A63 gets outside the tackle box and from the 50 throws the ball away incomplete beyond the line of scrimmage. There were no receivers in the area.
A, 3/10, 50, snap (40 and running).
A63 was the first player to possess the ball after the snap, so he (only) may legally ground the ball. Since the ball was thrown from outside the TB, and the ball crossed the NZ, the grounding was legal; next down. The game clock will next start on the snap, and the play clock is set to 40 seconds and starts when the ball became dead after 2nd down.
