OU vs KU forward handing play

No problem with that ruling,  however I am wondering why forward progress was not ruled.  Runner had been clearly stopped and driven back 3+ yards when the handing occurred. Thoughts? Could that have been corrected with replay?

On 4th down, err on the side of letting it play out unless the ball carrier made the line to gain.  Forward progress being stopped is not reviewable other than the spot itself.

The crew was consistent.  There was another 4th down play, a QB sneak that was snuffed out, but they let play continue as after a bit, the scrum ended up moving forward for a first down.

I’m sorry, but there is no way I’m going to “let that play out.” When the runner is driven back at least 3 yards, progress was stopped and needed to be called.

Agree.

Think of it this way:  If it had been a Kansas player who “stole” the ball, would you have let him run for a TD the other way?  I think not.

I had one on a Friday night. Running Back met and driven back away from the LOS. In the process of blowing my whistle while waving to stop the play, the runner then fumbled the ball. The other sideline went nuts ...Right before the half.

Coach screaming like a raped elephant ...I went over and told him. Forward progress was stopped. If you have a problem with that call, review the film and call me next week. He didn't call. The next game we had with him, he was on my sideline ....Came forward and told me  ...."I saw the film. You were right, but I still didn't like the call." Kidded back at him. "Aw you're not mad because you won the game. Besides there were three seconds left on the clock ....and I've seen your quarterback throw before.. 50 yards to go ...not a chance."

Where would you have spotted the ball if the runner had been driven back and just been tackled? 
And, to answer your question, no, I wouldn’t have let him run for a TD.
