Sure seems like he’s the sacrificial lamb for what was a rough performance by replay and some of the other crewmates. He didn’t make the decision to uphold the goal line fumble or the decision to rescind Kirby’s timeout.

Garbage way to have a career ended. Even Terry McAulay has chimed in, and hard to disagree with anything he says.

Would be great to see officials show support for Ken on Saturday, but we know that officials are completely spineless when it comes to defending their own out of fear of losing their own assignments.

I have no inside information whatsoever, but it occurs to me that maybe the SEC is giving Ken a negotiated buyout in return for his allowing them to throw him under the bus.

That is the only explanation that makes sense. I wonder if he will find work with some other conference next year, especially given that he was thrown under the bus?

The trend nowadays seems to be coordinators moving up young guys (in their league at different positions or a lower level R) rather than hiring retreads from other leagues (Heaser being a notable exception since he worked the NCG so recently). I’d like to see Ken in another league too, but I’m guessing none of the P4 leagues will hire a guy in his late 50s.

And according to the ESPN article, Williamson has informed the SEC before the season that he planned to retire after the year.

The problem I have with this is that it gives the public the perception that the events of that UGA-AU game were all Ken’s fault, and anyone who watched that game knows that’s not true. I understand the WH is the most prominent crew member and gets heat for everything, but we shouldn’t be treating them as a sacrificial lamb.

I hate this for Ken.  I was on his crew for 4 years and he's a top notch official and man.

I am disgusted with the firing of an official ogreat f Kens experience.  We have to be aware that both wing officials ruled a fumble and the ruling was upheld by replay. No matter if this was right or wrong, all involved were in agreement. This situation falls on the shoulders of John McDaid who was a good official but is in my opinion not even an adequate supervisor. Several friends of mine retired SEC  officials say that when SHAW and BIBLE left,   officiating in the SEC has declined  a great PETER deal. Maybe the  PETER PRINCIPLE applied with John and maybe also does CYA
