First down or End of game?
« on: April 23, 2011, 12:53:19 PM »
Team B has the lead with 6 to 0

3&10@A45

A16 pass the ball and B41 intercept the ball @B10

B10 returns for a TD

During the passplay A75 hold B84

During the return by B41, B65 block A45 in the back @B30

Time runs out during the down.

What is the ruling on the field?

The penelty enforced like this
Team B decline the holding on A75 so they get the ball

Team A accept the penelty for B65
And had an untimed down for Team B @B20 (took a knee)

How much did we F**ked up

I think that we don't need to have an untimed down. The game is over after the interception..

You didn't mess up anything.  Yes the game could have been over if team A had also declined the team B foul, but I'm not surprised that team A accepted the penalty and forced team B to snap it.  You never know, team B could have muffed the snap and team A could have recovered and ran for a tying TD, team A is not just going to let the game end if they have a chance.

Good job.

Perfect. Unless Team A consciously chooses to decline B's penalty, then extend for a play, as you did. Put that in the journal of your officiating career. I can almost guarantee you that it won't happen again.
