I was working this game last night, filling in for a stat crew memeber.  How that wasn't an ejection cannot be understood.  Consensus in the press box was that it clearly was a punch and should have been an ejejction.  An ACC conference official (not an onfield official) said it would be reviewed by the league office this week.  Expect a suspension.

Not smart fouling on an unsuccessful third down play and hurt them bad.

Personally, I don't even like the Varsity, but my wife does, so we go now and then.  But not last night.

I am a UGA grad, and was Tech's Official Scorer for both football and baseball for 6 years.  People ask how I got that job, and I simply told them it took a Georgia grad to come in and do the job right.

Now I work for UGA, but the Tech SID called on Wednesday in a panic, so I helped out.  That's OK, it assured me I now have a pair of tickets to the Tech-UGA game in a couple of weeks.

Ga Tech has suspended Attaochu for the first half of the next game, the reasoning being that would have been the automatic suspension had he been ejected.

Does that head off the ACC from doing anything else?

Technically, no, but since basketball has started, the ACC officie kind of forgets about football.  It was only something to do until basketball started.

In the SEC, basketball is that diversion to help carry you over the gap between football and spring football.  >:D

How does a punch like this really differ from a push?  Neither have anything to do with football - just a show of aggression that is going to inflict the same amount of injury (none - unless the helmet is off). Don't get me wrong -  I like the idea of ejecting in this case.  My point is that perhaps there should be more ejections when someone squares off against an opponent and pushes them.  Is that not the start of most fights in the real world?  There is no place for this crap in the game of football.

The push can be legal at times, i.e. during blocking..  The punch can never be legal
