Must be going around this weekend. We had our LJ go down Friday night in quarterfinal playoff game. Fumble returned opposite direction for TD. He thinks he tore his calf as he stopped to change direction. We run 5 man crews in Arkansas. No AO. We had to run 4 man for the final 20 minutes of game time.

Same reason they take a player's helmet away from him when they do not want him to go back in.    ;D

Thoughts:

Isn't the B supposed to take over for injured officials? Maybe this is a pure seniority thing?

Now we see the biggest problem with position placards

Steve Levy might be the smartest common tater Ive ever heard when talking about the duties of officials

Mike, no crack about having TWO UMPIRES on the field at the same time?

There is no set protocol for which position takes over for which position.  Each crew works that out for themselves; who will replace the R, who will replace the U, who goes in for the HL or L should they go down.
