Re NCwingman: The only scenario where I'd listen to arguments otherwise is if the clock is temporarily stopped and will start on the RFP -- if there is 0.7 seconds on the clock as it's stopped for the 1st down, the offense cannot be set for 1 second after the RFP before the snap AND get the snap off before time runs out.

The rule does not state "after the RFP" the rule 7-2-6 states "After a huddle or a shift, all players of A shall come to an absolute stop....."  The rule does not say A has to be set for 1 second after the RFP, in fact with the new 25/40 clock there is no RFP signal.  So with .7 seconds remaining, can Team A Legally get off a snap?

Yes. This is a common misunderstanding of this rule. You are correct that if all A players are in formation and set before the RFP, A can legally snap the instant the RFP is signaled.

When you played did you use leather helmets?...
Nope, we had plastic ones, BUT only the backs could have facemasks  :(. Budgetary constraints made  necessary by replacing the goalposts that were torn down after every victory.

Were they the 2" wide, or so, single bar plexi glass face masks? Everyone wanted one, but as you suggest, "Everyone called, but few were chosen".
