To extend a period or not?
« on: September 01, 2023, 07:25:19 AM »
TD scored with 00 remaining in the 1st or 3rd quarter. Period is still extended for the try under new rules. There isna foul on the try requiring a replay. I want to extend the period for the replay, and finish this try this quarter. Crew discussion says we are not extending period 1 or 3 for a foul. Any thoughts?

I would extend the period since it is still the try, for which a period is extended by rule.  You aren't extending it for a foul, you are still extending it for the try.

The rule change for this year only changes 3-2-3-a. Extending a period for a try is 3-2-3-c. They are two different rules. This is still the same try, so the period is still extended.

You would not end the period and walk to the other end of the field for the try.  The purpose of the rule is to save time.

Agree, extend for the try.
