INT in the EZ
« on: July 03, 2014, 11:43:38 AM »
B26 intercepts in A's end zone.  He then taunts A80 before taking a knee.  Is this a running play with the enforcement spot the EOR? Or Dead Ball / Succeeding or am I way off base.

Live ball foul enforced as a dead ball.  Enforce 1/2 the distance from the succeeding spot.  1-10 B at their own 10 yl.

Martin-Welcome to the forum!  Two interesting scenarios.  Always nice to exercise the gray matter before a long weekend!

Since the OP stated the ball was intercepted in "A's" end zone, the ball is dead when it is possessed by B26.  Touchdown!  The taunting is a DB foul.  Team A can elect to have it administered on the try or the succeeding kickoff.

Since he took a knee, I took it to mean B's end zone.  I've never seen a B player take a knee in A' s end zone.

Martin, USC is a live ball foul that penalized with succeeding spot enforcement. So it's penalized like a dead ball foul.

Spot the ball at the 20 for the touchback. Mark off half the distance, 1st & 10 from the A10.

Welcome, Martin, over from the apprently defunct NFHS Official's website. Let's throw some mud on the play : (1) B26 intercepts pass in B's endzone; (2) B26 then knees A88 in his baby production region; (3) B26 then fumbles and ball bounces out to B's 5; (4) A's big ole' Bubba - fresh from watching the World Cup - recovers the fumble and promptly drop kicks the ball thru the pipes ??? :!#. YOU MAKE THE CALL....... :)

First off, B26 has disqualified himself from further participation for the rest of the evening unless that was an accidental knee.  We have a flag for that, and a second flag for A's illegal kick.  B gained possession, and then lost possession of the ball, and A got the ball back with clean hands.

If A accepts the penalty on B26, we have a double foul; flags offset, replay the down.

If A declines the penalty on B26, then B will most likely decline the flag on A(Bubba), because Bubba forces the ball into (and out of) the end zone, where the ball is declared dead, so it would be a touchback, with B's ball, 1st and 10.

Now, if that was an accidental knee to the babymakers, there's only the one foul on A(Bubba).  Bubba still forced the ball into (and out of) the EZ, so B will decline the foul and take the TB.

Does the original LOS mean anything here, despite the (2) COPs?  I'm knocking dust off the noggin for football season and vaguely remember a way that A could come back behind the original LOS and kick.

Reaching I know :)

VALJ wins the Kewpie doll aWaRd!! ALStripes - The LOS disappeared with the first COP and would only reappear if A's foul required previous spot enforcement...incomplete pass, or occurred simultaneously with the snap....illegal motion, too many players on the field, etc. -- Bubba could have become the game's hero by waddling those last 5 yards for a TD AND a date with the Prom Queen (her original date - B88 - is now unavailable due to injury) . ;D ;D BUT  ::) his action reduced him to the game's zero -this difference between H and Z is sometimes only a drop kick.  tiphat:
