Snap infraction?

If the snapper snaps the ball backwards and the ball hits his rear end (he is a lineman) before it touches the ground or a back, do we have a foul or let it go?

I would have to see the play, but I would be inclined to call a "snap infraction" to avoid a cheap turnover.

No, it's legal.  Ball remains alive.

The ball is constantly touching a lineman (his hand) during the snap.  I think the rule is intended to mean another lineman.

I wouldn’t be concerned about a “cheap” turnover here.  The offense screwed up and should suffer the consequences, whether it be loss of yardage or loss of the ball.

IMHO, I would agree with those that agree that a 'butt-snap' stays in play

I knew what the rule said and let the play continue last night. It's nice to have consensus on the " Butt Rule"!
