As we move into another season, here are some great axioms to close out your weekly pre-game.
1) We want quality fouls.
2) See everything you call but don't call everything you see.
3) No "technical" fouls - let 'em play!
4) Don't reach for your marker unless you intend to drop it, and make sure you get a number and keep officiating the play.
5) When you put your marker on the field your integrity is linked to it. Make it be there.
6) See the ball before you blow the whistle.
7) Be a great dead ball official. Just being good is not enough.
8) Be deliberate in ruling on a fumble.
9) Let's have crisp ball movement.
10) No committee meetings.
11) No walking on the field. Hustle!
12) Count players every down.
13) Have excellent communication with coaches, players and other crew members and support personnel.
14) If you miss one, don't look back. Be ready to officiate the next play.
15) Focus and Concentration. Give everything you have on every play.
16) Display integrity, courage and poise all day. Let the tight situations reveal your true character.
17) Be mentally and physically prepared to work the game.
Best of luck to everyone for a great season. Travel safe. And most importantly... HAVE FUN!
