TOO MUCH (WILD) TURKEY ?!?.....
« on: November 24, 2023, 02:56:55 PM »
While my wife and my sister were debating which pie to serve first, I kept a weary eye on the Packers/Lions game. I was confused by the following :

(1) Packer's punt was batted down at the goal line by airborne gunner;
(2) Official dropped his bean bag on the goal line;
(3) Break for commercials;
(4) Back on the field, Lion's ball 1/10 @ their 3;
(5) Does the NFL have some kind of a funky rule on this ?

I then focused on a slice of peanut butter pie and a sip of bourbon.  tiphat:

All 3 codes have different rules on this play. In the NFL, all that matters is where airborne gunner last touched the ground. If he leapt from the field of play, it doesn’t matter where he actually touches the ball. So if it was batted back into the field of play and recovered at the 3, it would be Team B’s ball at the 3. As far as the bean bag, it’s probably just a matter of a bad drop.

Thanks, Legacy, for the clarification. I first felt that it was an optical illusion caused by an overabundance of Turkey (Wild). I'll be ready if it happens again  :).
