NFHS Online Exam???
« on: June 22, 2021, 06:23:37 AM »
I need some help here understanding this one as part of the 2021 50 question online exam with regard to 10-4-2. Yes b. & c. were the same. This was probably the worst examination I have ever seen published by the NFHS.

4th and 7 K is attempting a field goal from the R27 , the unsuccessful kick is wide right through the end line. At the snap K is flagged for an Illegal Formation . Where is the next snap from ?

a. R 1st and 10 at R 27

b. R 1st and 10 at R 20

c. R 1st and 10 at R 20

IMHO, the correct answer is: R 1st & 10 @ B's 25 . Applying the tack-on rule to an unsuccessful FG would cause it .
IMHO, either b. or c. was a typo.
IMHO, c. was it, as the last choice is often the correct one :)

I've retrieved this topic , that had a long discussion a few months back  tiphat:

In my opinion the answers should be:

a. K 1st and 2 at the R-22

b. R 1st and 10 at the R-25

c. R 1st and 10 at the R-20

d. R 1st and 10 at the R-27

e. Either a, b, or c.

f. None of the above

It would seem the succeeding spot would be determined by R's penalty decision to either accept the penalty & replay the down after a 5 yard penalty against K from the previous spot  (allowing K the opportunity to choose to rekick), or simply declining the penalty, accepting the result of the play, (an unsuccessful FG attempt & touchback), which would give R possession 1st & 10 from the R-20 yl.

I think the test comes through DragonflyMax now.  That's how NC took it last year.

Mr. Damien: Would you confirm this question is on the part 1 exam? Usually the federation exams are T/F and not caseplays. Thanks.

A few years ago a few multiple choice/guess questions have been added. I have yet to see a copy of the NFHS exam.

MD's e-mail to us last week said that our online test date window is 7/26-8/12.

In my version of the test option b was R 1st and 10 at R 25.  I got it WRONG.

Welcome to the forum, nvref, may you find it both enjoyable and informative. Sometimes a rule change brings unattended results. The tack-on rule was a very solid change as it both reduced the number of re-kicks and enforces fouls by K prior to COP that might often be declined by R to keep the ball. In the test question, the rule would apply.

Forgive me Ralph, I may just have a speck in my eye, but am having trouble with the "WHY" would R EVER
want to give K another shot at an unsuccessful FG attempt. (When K failed on the original effort

Thanks Ralph.  I did not make myself clear, I selected R's ball 1/10 at the R25 (the b answer) and got the question wrong.

A few years ago a few multiple choice/guess questions have been added. I have yet to see a copy of the NFHS exam.

Took mine this week.  It was all T/F.  The only really poor question on my test was:

“After the ball is marked ready for play, and until the ball is kicked, K must have at least two K players on either side of the kicker.”
