Mouthpiece

I am a retired Ohio highschool official. I have seen several players in NCAA games with their mouthpiece hanging from the faceguard. Is wearing a mouthpiece a requirement under NCAA rules as it is in NFHS? Just asking for my own knowledge.

I don't know who or where the trend started, but lots of guys are carrying 2. One attached to the helmet, one not.

If they are wearing one mouthguard but carrying 2, it is inevitable that one is not worn. In the college games I had so far, I have yet to see the 2-mouthguard thing, but I have seen junior college and D3 officials remind players to put their mouthguards in.
