Hump day trivia tester :
Only one player in MLB history has hit for the cycle and made an unassisted triple play. Who can name him ????
Figured it had to be a Red Sox player, so that would make it John Valentin.

The Braves have turned 2, one while they were in Atlanta, the other while they were still in Boston.

Helpful hints to above trivia:

The brave that wore all three uniforms was also on the first cover of SI

The second part of the question played for....
                         The Red Sox from 1953-1989
                                Bruins from    1941-1984
                                 Celtics from    1946-1984

                .....good luck tiphat:

Without looking it up, I think the Braves player is Eddie Matthews.

And I'm going to call foul on Q2.  "Played" for all three teams for those years?

Didn't Troy Tulowitzki also hit for the cycle and get an unassisted triple play?

Good call on Eddie Matthews aWaRd. John Kiley, the organist, played for all three . I don't believe they have an organist at football games :).

He didn't hit for the cycle with the Rockies, did he play for someone else?

Yes, he did.  August 10, 2009 against the Cubs.

The fact that he got a triple on that play was a joke, thanks to some hometown scoring.  IIRC, the outfield bobbled the ball, and the throw got away from the third baseman, or he'd have been out by a mile.  At least one of those should have been an error.

Kris Bryant would have made the play...  ;)

I stand corrected :-[, my list only showed Michael Cuddyer & Carlos Gonzalez for the Rockies :-[.
Our friendly wager doesn't look good (for me) either......

IMHO, the fact that Holt never broke stride on his way around 2nd, thus scoring it as a triple even with the juggle. This and Mookie Betts stealing 2 bases on the same pitch are the only highlights of Flop Sox season.....there are plenty of lowlights pi1eOn :( pi1eOn :'(

Talking about Tulo, not Holt.  I'm a Cubs fan - I remember that play vividly.  :)

Wow I do not like that the whole crew is not held to the same standard. Live and die together.

I don't disagree I would hope that the whole crew could score above 90 on both test. Our leadership believes that R's and U's better know their penalty enforcement. Since they are usually the most experienced members of the crew, they should have it down by then. Our wings are usually only have a few years experience and nobody believes that the BJ knows anything.  :sTiR:

There is an old joke somewhere about trading a BJ for a Golden retriever.  Something about fetching balls and killing grass, but I forget how it goes.

I was taught a Back Judge supplied these to you-know-who.  sNiCkErS

When I was a Back Judge I was also responsible for the post-game thirst quenchers.

I had to pay $65 for a clinic that I knew that I couldn't attend.  It was scheduled for Fathers day weekend and I had my vacation already planned for that weekend.  Only in the great state of Mississippi.  No make up dates either.

As great BJ once told me, being a BJ is 90% boredom and 10% sheer terror. I will say with all the passing going on these days at the HS level, it's better than the 2 yards and a cloud of dust days...

The 10% sheer terror is all punts.
