I was reading a post that said "Although it's basic and straightforward, rules regarding kicks cause a lot of confusion, hesitation and brain farts. As pointed out above, "A kick is a kick until it's no longer a kick", and the ONLY things that end a kick is being blow dead by rule and player POSSESSION.
Perhaps the frequency of confusion in this situation is caused by the Goal Line. Kicks touched by R (beyond the scrimmage line) recovered IN THE FIELD OF PLAY, belong to whomever recovered. Whereas, no matter how many times, or by whom, a kick is touched, the instant it touches/crosses R's goal line, the ball is dead (by rule) and is a Touchback.
Whatever happens after the ball crosses the goal, happens to a DEAD ball."
of course, this made me ponder -- What happens if B catches the punt that went into the endzone, can't he ELECT to run it out or is just blown dead--REGARDLESS
