I noticed what appeared to be a contradiction in the new 1204 guidelines for mileage. 

(l) MILEAGE REIMBURSEMENT.
(1) Officials shall be paid travel reimbursement according to the metro or non-metro plan based on a crew.
(A) Metro-flat rate of travel reimbursement from the center point in chapter to game site. 20 mile radius = $12; 30 mile radius = $15; 40 mile radius = $18. Any school outside the 40 mile radius will revert to the non-metro mileage reimbursement for pay from that school.
(1) The UIL will determine the online mapping service to be used for the metro travel reimbursement plan by both officials and schools.
(B) Non-metro -portal to portal officials shall be reimbursed one car 55 cents per mile, two cars 41 cents per mile, or three cars 33 cents per mile (A $10 riders fee will only be paid to officials exceeding three person crews).
(2) Officials shall be paid based on the state mileage reimbursement rate in effect on August 1 of the current school year.

So...how can it be 55, 41, and 33 cents per mile spelled out, but then be the current rate?  Is it going to be 50, 41, 33?

My guess would be 50/38/30.

Unless things have changed in the last 48 hours we are still using last year's 1204 numbers, which would mean 50 cents a mile.  The tiered rate would not apply.

Interested to compare your mileage rates in the US with ours over here in the UK. We get £0.25 a mile or about $0.38 a mile.

But it makes no sense without knowing what you guys are paying (roughly) for gas.

A US gallon is 3.7 litres and I'm currently paying about £1.15 a litre which equates to £4.25 a US gallon. At today's exchange rate that's about $6.55 a US gallon.

Also keep in mind that in some areas of Texas, you might have to travel 100-150 miles ONE WAY to go to a jr. high ball game.

I have two trips to the border this year for varsity games, just over 200 miles one way from my house.  We are the nearest chapter.  Texas is a bit spread out.

Sure!  I believe that British-style gun control would be wholly impractical in places such as Texas where everybody and his dog's got one (and even if they didn't then guns would probably still be abundant in neighbouring states and in Mexico); therefore it is entirely reasonable that the authorities should have a very loose hand in trying to control guns, and if they tried it'd be about as effective as fighting a wildfire with a lawn sprinkler.

I also believe that (while broadly appropriate for a country with no history whatsoever of widespread gun ownership by private citizens and less than 100 fatal shootings per year) when our gun laws have reached the point where they force our target shooters to go to Switzerland in order to train without getting nicked, and get no funding because of this despite competing in a sport that carries a serious chance of Olympic medals, then maybe we've gone a little too far and there is scope for relaxing the law.

Just to set the record straight, I believe in responsible gun ownership.  My dog just turned 7 months old a few weeks ago, so he is still too young to own a gun.
