Minimum Time for FG

I thought I read it somewhere.  Perhaps a bulletin.  What is the minimum amount of time that should run off the clock on a Field Goal?

Rule of thumb is 5 seconds.

I️ thought it depended on distance. Under X yards is Y seconds; over X yards is Z seconds. But I️ don’t remember what X, Y, and Z are.

Why not just start the clock on the snap/ready and kill it when the ball hits something OOB? :)

I am thinking of a scenario when the clock operator failed to start the clock.  I thought I had read a bulletin at some point that mentioned the minimum amount of time that should run off.
