Touchback or Not
« on: September 23, 2013, 11:43:49 AM »
B24 intercepts pass in the endzone, attempts to run it out.  B24 is tackle whereas his feet is still in the endzone when he is down but the ball is in his possession at the one yard line.  Where is the ball placed for the next possession the one yd line or the 20.

From your description I believe the ball will be at the 1 yard line.

If the entire ball gets out it is placed in the field of play. Also reviewable in NCAA and NFL

Agreed, the feet have no real bearing on the outcome of the down here.  By rule the succeeding spot is determined by the location of the ball when the player is down by rule.  The succeeding spot based on the description given here would be the 1 yard line (" ... the ball is in his possession at the one yard line.").
It's easy to get the players, getting 'em to play together, that's the hard part. - Casey Stengel
