Hashmarks...

Those of you in Texas and Mass. - I know you use NCAA rules - does that include the spacing of the hashmarks?

I wasn't sue which section to put this one in, but figured here would be the best.

Most constituent leagues of the New England Preparatory School Athletic Conference use NCAA rules, which means high school officials in Connecticut and several other Northeastern states need to know both codes if they expect to have the maximum availability to the association.  When I was in Connecticut, NEPSAC members who used NCAA rules had fields marked to NCAA specs.  (The Fairchester Athletic Association of SW Connecticut and Southern New York was the only NEPSAC league to use NFHS rules as of a few years ago. I officiated a New England Championship game between a Fairchester member and another school that used NCAA rules; our Referee essentially made up a set of hybrid rules with the coaches before the game. It was a mess.)

Narrow hashes and wide goal posts?  No one should ever miss a FG in Texas!

I fear of the NFHS adopting the NCAA hashmark dimensions, for it would cause an uneven playing field for Cow Flap Bingo - an annual fund-raising event -where the field is divided into 60 "squares" (really rectangles). A hefty cow is lead out to midfield after eating a hefty lunch....you can guess the rest eAt& eAt&
