Unsportsmanlike conduct...
« on: October 24, 2018, 12:13:08 AM »
So in Mississippi State vs. LSU there was a flag for unsportsmanlike following an interception that I thought was interesting. Following the interception (which was erased by a targeting flag that is covered in another thread) , two B players decided to act out a little skit where one of them posed and the other mimicked taking his photo. I'm sure you've seen it take place in NFL games.

Anyhow, when the announcement was made, it was 15 yards for the targeting foul and 15 yards each for the two players resulting in 45 yards worth of penalty yardage. I'm pretty sure I've never seen that before, but of course most of the time it's one player engaging in a sportsmanlike act so maybe that makes a difference. I have no idea how they want this handled in the NCAA - is that common? A flag for each player involved in a skit I guess I'll call it? If there had been four players involved would it be penalized as 75 yards?

I learned something new Saturday.

In our conference we would charge both players with a UNS but penalize 15 yards for the single act.

Pick one and go with one UNS.  Probably the "poser" or the guy who made the play.

I agree with Andrew. Make it one foul, but charge each player with a UNS.

I may be wrong, but I thought there was a bulletin play that covered this as well.
