sent from a Montana official

A4/10@A10.  A80 goes OB on his own at the A-20 and returns back in bounds at the A-30.  A80 then is the first to touch the kick at the A-47 and the ball goes OB a the A-49. Ruling?

A4/10@A-3 4th quarter, the defense trailing 29-24.  The ball is snapped (1:07) and the punter drops the snap onto the ground.  He struggles to gain possession and by the time he does, it is too late to kick the ball safely.  he breaks one tackle and scrambles to his right,  still in the EZ but now outside of the tackle box he throws a forward pass to an area with no receivers and the pass falls incomplete at the A10. When the play is over the clock reads 0:59. Ruling? Options? Clock?

1. A80 fouls when he returns inbounds. That five yard penalty can be enforced at the dead ball spot (A-49) or previous spot. It can NOT be enforced at the spot of illegal touching because accepting a live ball foul cancels the illegal touching. So B's options are either A 4/15 @ A-5 or B 1/10 @ A-44, clock on the snap either way. Technically, B 1/10 @ A-47 is an option, but they'll never take it.

2. Incomplete pass, B 1/G @ A-3. The punter is the player to originally control the snap and he never gave up possession so he gets the exception from intentional grounding. He leaves the tackle box and throws the ball beyond the line of scrimmage, so there's no foul. This is just an incomplete pass.

(Most likely) B, 1/10, A-44, snap (25).
A80 commits a foul for an illegal return, and the 5 yard penalty may be enforced at either the previous spot, and repeat the down, or at the spot where the dead ball belongs to Team B (A-49), which would place the ball at the A-44, 1/10 for B.

Legal grounding. No foul. But B’s ball at the A-3, 1/G. No adjustment to the clock. Clock starts on the snap, with a 25 second play clock.
The punter probably has to answer to his teammates for losing the game.
