Sideline Misconduct

From Rom Gilbert's Video Page:  All persons in the team area are subject to the rules (1-1-6).  Since the illegal action here took place when the ball was dead, sideline interference does not apply. (9-1-5-a, 9-1-6)   Persons in the team area can be charged with personal fouls and with unsportsmanlike conduct.

10. Ball carrier A32 is driven out of bounds and into the Team B team area at the B-45. As A32 is  trying to return to the field of play a person in business attire pushes him to the ground or obviously taunts him. RULING: Team B is charged with either a dead-ball personal foul or a foul for unsportsmanlike conduct. In either case the penalty is 15 yards from the succeeding spot.
All persons in the team area are subject to the rules, whether or not they have an official capacity with the team. (1-1-6-a, 9-1-2 Penalty, 9-2-1 Penalty)

I don't know if there is any video of it (if there is, I'm sure Mike can find it), but a similar situation happened in a game at Tennessee this year.

He certainly scarpered out of there real quick - couldn't see if Coach told him to git but I presume so.

Odd penalty: The teams had offsetting personal-foul penalties, but the offending Volunteer was an oddity.
Senior defensive end Ben Martin drew a flag for pushing Alabama's Dre Kirkpatrick after Kirkpatrick had taken UT's Gerald Jones out of bounds. Martin was dressed in street clothes and his No. 99 Tennessee jersey.
Kirkpatrick also drew a personal-foul penalty.
