Another BIB?

This video is getting a lot of air time in New England.
Towards the end of the down, checkout the block that Blue #24 lays on White #2 at ~B-15 near the far sideline.

If he had not been "victim" of the weak BIB he would have been trucked by that big ole dude.   I think #2 got off easy here.

Looks like a good non-call to me.  Covering official is in perfect position to make the call and #2 turns his back just as #34 reaches out to block him.  Still photo is just before contact and IMO this is not a BIB.

I don't think #2 is going to make the tackle and I don't think there is much contact. It doesn't seem that these get called in the NFL in that situation, meaning towards the end of the play where the runner goes down and the contact is not severe.

Granted the contact could be marginal.  But, I don't see why this particular situation warrants a no call based upon your latter comment - see bold above.  The alleged foul occurred directly in front of the ball carrier at B-15.  The ball carrier was not tackled until he reached the B-4.

I'm just saying that seems to be the way it is called in the NFL. In a few days I'll shoot a text to an NFL friend of and get his take on the play, or if it was discussed by the league. I'll let you know if he says anything worth mentioning.

Saw that live. Thought the guy kinda put himself into that position. Not exactly a turtle, but the blocker was committed at a point that the block would have been legal had the target not shifted his vector.
