Another Rule / Case Book Contradiction?

Rule Book: 1.6.ART. 2 . . . LAN phones and/or headsets may be used by coaches, other non -
players and players; however, players may use LAN phones and/or headsets only
during authorized sideline conferences.

Case Bool: 1.6.2 SITUATION A: The quarterback of A: (a) after leaving the game and while
in the team box, uses a headset to talk to a coach in the scouting booth; or (b)
during a charged time-out, comes near the sideline to confer with two coaches
who are wearing headphones. RULING: Legal in (a) and (b) during an authorized
conference.

No contradiction. The QB left the game. So is he a player or a non-player?

Yes, you are correct. Thanks for the clarification. I was overlooking the proper player designation.
