4th Down Dead Ball PF on Team B
« on: August 31, 2015, 11:39:15 AM »

Texas HS Football:

4th and 17 at own 31 yd line.

*TEAM A is in obvious scrimmage kick formation.
*Bad snap from center.
*Punter recovers and carries ball out of bounds at his own 28-yd line.
*Dead ball PF called on TEAM B for late hit OB.

What is the enforcement?

Play ended at the A-28 and since Team A had not made the line to gain, possession belongs to Team B.
Team B would then be penalized 15 yards for the dead-ball foul.

I have Team B 1st & 10 at the A-43.

(for the purposes of clarity, I did not change Team A/B designations despite the change of possession).
Coach: "I've been doing this 30 years!  I know the rules!"
Ref: "Are you married coach?"
Coach (suddenly offguard): "umm...yeah, why?"
Ref: "I've been married 30 years and my wife says there is still room for improvement"
Coach: "<silence>"

Team A/B should retain their designations thoughout the play.  You got it right.
