Anyone use the ten second subtraction rule?

Out of curiosity...has anyone had to use the ten second subtraction rule at all this season? Another complicated rule to an already complicated game IMHO.

Makes me thankful I am in the pressbox running the clock instead of trying to understand/sort out this rule on the field

Used it in a JV and a peewee.

Forced timeout in a varsity.

The one clock I did the crew used it incorrectly.

we have used it several times. It has been simple. One of my crew guys always tells me on fouls if it would be a 10 sec runoff if we were under a minute. Keeps me sharp.

Would have used it twice ironically in 2 consecutive games after not having it all season, however, teams called TOs. In first one we were actually unsure about the helmet coming off instigating the rule until a crew member on the radio reminded us. Didn't matter, though.

Be sure you read the rule carefully if you haven't enforced it yet. It has been a long time since the summer clinic and having it for the first time in the playoffs is NOT a good thing, especially if you miss something.

We only had one instance that I can recall (and another one where the white hat wanted to apply it, but didn't apply).  Coach took a time out.

Twice.  Once is a Varsity game at end of first half.  Other game was a Freshman game last week.  False Start with 10 seconds left in ball game.  Game over.

We used it at the end of a game.  Took longer to administer and communicate to clock operator, than it would have if had not done it.

Have not had to implement it yet but came close on one occasion.  Had a FST but the clock was dead instead of running.  Coach briefly argued I was wrong but also conceded pretty quick he was incorrect. 

It will be interesting to see if this comes into play during the playoffs or, even better, a championship game.  HS fans are not yet used to it or even aware it's now in play for UIL.
